A balanced and healthy diet includes vitamins, minerals, trace elements, carbohydrates and proteins. The so-called “food pyramid” uses segments of different sizes to show the quantities in which you should eat the food groups in order to have a nutritious diet.

An introduction to the food pyramid

Drinks form the basis. It should be between 1.5 and 2 liters of liquid a day. Water, fruit spritzers or unsweetened teas are ideal.

Fruit and vegetables represent the largest food level. You must eat five portions of fruit and vegetables throughout the day.

The third stage includes grain and potatoes. Foods such as bread, muesli, rice or pasta are rich in carbohydrates and provide energy.

The fourth tier is shared by dairy, fish, meat, and eggs.

Fats, oils and sweets share the top of the food pyramid.
